Temporary Medical Billing Specialist – Behavioral Health (Part-Time Contract)

Location: Olney, MD (On-site)

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Type: Contract Role with Potential for Permanent Hire

Pay : 28.00/hr - 30.00/hr

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-respected outpatient mental health provider in Maryland seeking a Temporary Medical Billing Specialist with behavioral health experience to support their billing department with intake-related backlogs. This is a contract opportunity with the potential for permanent hire for top-performing candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations prior to services.
• Enter and maintain accurate demographic, insurance, and benefit information in the EHR.
• Submit and track claims; reconcile A/R and billing records.
• Post payments, resolve denials, and ensure accurate patient account balances.
• Maintain detailed and compliant billing records.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external payers for issue resolution.
• Ensure all billing processes align with HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
• Support billing meetings and other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health billing experience.
• Experience with Dr.Cloud and Waystar required.
• Vallant experience is a strong plus (system transition underway).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and within a team.

Training:

• 1–2 weeks of shadowing/training with the Billing Manager based on experience level.
