Job Description

Our client, a prestigious NYC Trusts and Estates practice group, is seeking an experienced and accomplished Trusts and Estates Partner or Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in estate planning and administration, working with ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) and high-net-worth (HNW) individuals and multigenerational families. The successful candidate will have broad-based expertise across a variety of trusts and estates matters and a proven track record of providing strategic guidance to clients on complex, high-value estate planning issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sophisticated estate planning and administration services to UHNW and HNW individuals, families, and family offices.
• Lead the development of customized estate planning strategies, including the creation of wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
• Advise clients on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies, charitable giving, business succession planning, and asset protection.
• Oversee the administration of complex estates, including the management of probate proceedings, asset distribution, and tax filings.
• Work closely with clients' financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to ensure integrated, comprehensive solutions.
• Manage a team of associates and collaborate with cross-practice teams to deliver holistic client service.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, introducing new business opportunities and expand the firm’s trusts and estates practice.

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school, with excellent academic credentials.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in estate planning and administration, gained in a Big Law or reputable midsized firm.
• Extensive experience advising UHNW and HNW individuals and multigenerational families on complex trusts and estates matters.
• In-depth knowledge of estate tax law, fiduciary obligations, charitable planning, and other key areas of trust and estate law.
• Ability to handle sophisticated estate planning strategies and complex estate administration matters.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals.
• Leadership ability to manage and mentor junior associates.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

While a book of portable business is preferred at $1MM+, the firm will engage those with 500K+ for consideration. Compensation includes salary ($250K-to-400K) plus a percentage of originations and service work performed for the firm. In addition, a robust benefits package is included. Must be admitted in NY (Connecticut, NJ and Fla. Bar admissions considered a plus).
