Job Description

Position Overview:

H&P is representing a growing investment bank with a strong presence in the technology and software sectors in their search for a senior investment professional ( Vice President / Director / Managing Director ) to join its office in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a dynamic professional with extensive M&A and capital markets experience, a strong network, and a deep understanding of the tech ecosystem. As the firm expands its footprint and capabilities, this individual will play a critical role in deal origination, client relationship management, and transaction execution .

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in investment banking for a VP, 7-8 years for a Director, or 12+ years experience for a Managing Director, with a strong track record of leading transactions, managing client engagements, and developing junior talent. Experience in the technology or digital services vertical is preferred but not required. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is ready to drive growth across the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Coverage & Origination:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with C-level executives, private equity sponsors, and strategic buyers within the technology and digital services space.
  • Proactively originate and pitch new business opportunities, including sell-side M&A, buy-side advisory, capital raises, and strategic advisory mandates.
  • Lead the development and delivery of tailored pitch materials and strategic ideas for prospective and existing clients.

Transaction Leadership & Execution:

  • Oversee all aspects of live transactions, including due diligence, valuation, financial modeling, and negotiation of key terms.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, attorneys, accountants, and other external stakeholders throughout the deal process.
  • Drive deal teams to execute engagements efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality and accuracy.

Strategic Insight & Sector Expertise:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape across technology and digital services sectors.
  • Lead the development of sector-specific insights and proprietary content to support client engagements and business development initiatives.
  • Act as a thought leader both internally and externally, contributing to the firm’s positioning and visibility in the market.

Team Leadership & Talent Development:

  • Mentor and develop junior bankers through hands-on training, feedback, and performance coaching.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on recruiting, staff development, and organizational strategy.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture aligned with the firm’s values and long-term goals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from a reputable university in Economics, Finance, Management or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years relevant investment banking experience for a VP, 7-8 years for a Director, or 12+ years for a Managing Director, with a demonstrated track record of successful M&A and/or capital markets transactions.
  • Proven ability to originate, lead, and close complex transactions in a client-facing role.
  • Strong financial acumen, analytical rigor, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of transaction structuring, negotiation, and process management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface credibly with senior executives and board members.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative in a growth-oriented environment.
  • Experience or strong interest in the technology and digital services sectors is highly advantageous.
