Senior Estimator – Seal Masters of Hawai‘i

Location: Oahu, HI

Status: Full-Time, On-Site (ALL APPLICANTS MUST RESIDE ON OAHU)

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year 

Seal Masters of Hawai‘i is looking for a results-driven  Senior Estimator to lead our Estimating Team and play a strategic role in advancing our sales and estimation operations. This position calls for a high-performing professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a sharp focus on accuracy, efficiency, and team development.

The ideal candidate will oversee a growing team of estimators, implement process improvements, and collaborate across departments to ensure that every proposal is competitive, clearly scoped, and aligned with client needs and company objectives. The Role

As a  Senior Estimator , you will lead the estimating team and play a key role in driving accurate, timely, and strategic bids for complex building renovation projects. You’ll oversee all aspects of the this team,—from site assessments to final proposal submission—while mentoring junior estimators and improving internal systems.

You will:

  • Lead and manage a team of 2–4 estimators, ensuring quality, consistency, and accountability
  • Oversee preparation of detailed time, cost, and labor estimates for exterior building projects
  • Attend job walks, analyze plans and specifications, and define clear scopes of work
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids, material pricing, labor, and production rates for competitiveness
  • Collaborate closely with business development and operations to align on scope, budget, and schedule
  • Maintain accurate bid logs, pipeline reports, and CRM data to support sales strategy and tracking
  • Identify opportunities to streamline estimating processes and implement improvements
  • Support company-wide estimation strategy through clear communication and technical leadership

Performance Metrics

  • Estimator Team Performance:  Leads and develops a high-performing team of estimators through clear delegation, coaching, and process improvement.
  • Accurate & Competitive Bids:  Delivers clear, strategic estimates that reflect true scope, labor, and material needs—balancing precision with pricing strategy to win profitable work.
  • Proposal Turnaround Management:  Ensures team submits timely and professional bid submissions to maintain client momentum and support business development goals.
  • Estimating Spreadsheets
  • Continuously evolves and improves estimating spreadsheets and templates to support company growth, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partners proactively with Preconstruction, Marketing, and Operations to ensure alignment and a seamless handoff from bid to execution.
  • Resilience & Ownership
  • Maintains composure under pressure, collaborates with the team to ensure timely follow-ups, and takes full ownership of all estimating responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, ideally in exterior renovation or building envelope work
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost analysis
  • Leadership experience and ability to guide a small team
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel; BuilderTrend experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
  • Must reside on O‘ahu and be available for in-person site visits and meetings
