Job Description

Overview:

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is looking for a Safety Manager to lead the safety strategy, programs, and compliance efforts at a large-scale manufacturing site. This role will work closely with plant leadership to promote a proactive safety culture, implement effective policies, and ensure a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. This is a long-term, direct hire role with our client located in Riddle, Oregon.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety procedures and policies to meet regulatory and internal standards
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to plant safety documentation and practices
  • Foster collaboration across locations to align safety practices and share best practices company-wide
  • Provide coaching and support to supervisors and team members in building technical safety capabilities
  • Define the safety vision for the facility and engage staff in meeting program goals
  • Lead training efforts related to compliance, safe practices, hazard recognition, and equipment use
  • Conduct and oversee risk assessments, ensuring that corrective actions are taken to reduce hazards
  • Communicate safety metrics, expectations, and performance outcomes across all levels of the organization
  • Partner with Human Resources and workers' compensation teams to identify cost-reduction and safety improvement opportunities
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to regulations
  • Manage the site's safety supplies, equipment, and materials
  • Use incident data and safety performance indicators to prioritize initiatives and set improvement goals
  • Ensure consistent application of plant policies and contribute to overall operational success
  • Lead internal investigations and guide resolution efforts for safety incidents
  • May oversee safety support staff depending on site needs
  • Represent and reinforce company values in all safety initiatives
  • Work closely with corporate teams and other site leaders on safety-related projects and compliance efforts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline, with 5+ years of experience in a safety leadership role (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA and other occupational health and safety regulations
  • Effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
  • Proficient in training, coaching, and mentoring across multiple levels of the organization
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and safety management software
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to drive results and foster a high-trust work environment
  • Financial and business acumen
  • The ability to interpret safety data for strategic action
  • Professionalism and integrity in handling confidential or sensitive matters
  • Composure in high-pressure situations and adaptability in a team-based environment
  • Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation
