Job Description

About the role:

The Investment Portfolio Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining dynamic database of portfolio positions to monitor and generate internal reports.
  • Maintaining investment data accuracy and integrity in reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with investment managers, custodians, and internal teams to validate data accuracy.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual investment reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of senior management communications including board level, investment committee and other presentations and reports.
  • Maintain and enhance reporting templates and dashboards.
  • Support financial planning process for investments, including planning for future periods and analyzing actual results against plan.
  • Analyze investment performance across asset classes (bonds, equities, and alternatives).
  • Monitor portfolio compliance with insurance-specific regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with the investment team to review and monitor existing asset allocation in actively managed and external mandates and make recommendations to optimize the portfolio.
  • Report on and optimize aggregate cash positions across all portfolios and entities.
  • Review performance for externally managed assets.
  • Prepare ad hoc investment/risk analysis.
  • Support monitoring, reporting and analysis related to alternative assets.

Qualifications

About you:

To be an ideal candidate you have the following background, skills and mindset:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in investment reporting or insurance investment operations.
  • Basic understanding of insurance accounting and regulatory regimes preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail in asset reporting, portfolio monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills and a familiarity with investment data systems (e.g., Clearwater, BlackRock Aladdin, Bloomberg). Python and BQL a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Identifies that a problem exists and applies critical thinking skills to develop solutions.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity to expand knowledge.
  • Innovative mindset with a passion for leveraging technology to drive business value.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
