We’re Looking for a Superintendent in Houston, TX area!

My client is after a seasoned heavy civil professional with the expertise to lead field crews and the grit to take on challenging infrastructure projects. My client needs a Superintendent to take charge of major projects, including earthwork, underground utilities, structural concrete, bridges, and more across multiple job sites in Houston. This is a boots-on-the ground leadership role where you'll be in the thick of the action managing crews, coordinating equipment and materials, keeping schedules on track, and partnering with project teams to deliver complex jobs safely, efficiently, and to spec.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Superintendent, you’ll lead the day-to-day field operations for heavy civil construction projects ranging from $50M to $200M+. You’ll supervise crews and equipment, ensure schedules stay on track, enforce safety and quality standards, collaborate closely with project teams and stakeholders to drive projects on-time, on-budget and exceeding expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and coordinate crews to execute grading base prep, asphalt, concrete paving, and slipform paving with precision and efficiency.
  • Lead and manage day-to-day heavy civil field operations across earthwork, underground utilities, structural concrete, bridges, and more on multi-site projects in the Houston area.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to swiftly resolve field issues and maintain seamless communication.
  • Serve as the primary on-site liaison for inspectors, clients, and DOT officials, ensuring compliance and building strong partnerships.
  • Train and mentor crew members, fostering a skilled workforce focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee equipment setup and utilization, ensuring maximum productivity and top-quality finishes that meet project specs.
  • Monitor job progress closely, adjusting operations proactively to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols and conduct daily job hazard analyses (JHAs) to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
  • Manage logistics including equipment, material deliveries, and daily crew assignments to optimize resources.
  • Maintain detailed daily reports, field logs, and documentation to support project transparency and compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction with a general contractor.
  • Must have knowledge with Highways, Roads, Bridge, Utility and Asphalt.
  • Experience leading qualified professionals on projects.
  • Strong communication and written skills.
  • Able to work on-site and travel to projects.
