Job Overview

The Foods Manager leads a professional, efficient, safe, and profitable food operation, delivering caring hospitality and craveable food and beverage offerings.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure the team follows all Food Division Standards and Best Practices.
  • Accountable for driving sales, controlling expenses, and achieving bottom-line profitability.
  • Provide ongoing training to colleagues to enhance team satisfaction and reduce turnover.
  • Support food production processes in alignment with recipes and Food Division Best Practices.
  • Monitor food quality through daily a.m. and p.m. line checks.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with store management.
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage hiring, recruiting, terminations, and employee relations.
  • Monitor and document employee performance; deliver timely performance appraisals.
  • Maintain role model standards in grooming, communication, and professional appearance.
  • Meet the highest standards of workplace sanitation, equipment care, and safety as defined by Health Department and company policy.
  • Utilize Macy’s and Food Division systems and tools effectively.
  • Manage scheduling and complete weekly payroll to optimize associate productivity, control labor costs, and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Use daily sales reports and weekly food cost and payroll reports to meet monthly profit/loss goals.
  • Order food, beverage, dry, and paper goods based on budget and business needs.
  • Complete timely payment of invoices according to vendor contracts and Food Division Best Practices.
  • Conduct food inventories in accordance with Inventory Best Practices to ensure accuracy and maintain targeted food and liquor costs.
  • Coordinate and execute special events and central-driven promotional strategies.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and recognition to drive team performance.
  • Ensure the team is trained on and follows safe work practices.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Operational Excellence & Profit Management – Strong ability to drive sales, manage expenses, and meet profitability goals through effective scheduling, cost control, and data-driven decision-making.

Food Quality & Safety Standards – Expertise in food production processes, recipe execution, and compliance with sanitation and health regulations to maintain high standards of safety and quality.

Leadership & Team Development – Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, train, and retain high-performing teams while fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Communication & Collaboration – Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present information clearly and work collaboratively across departments and levels of the organization.

Customer Focus & Hospitality – Commitment to delivering caring, attentive service and craveable food and beverage experiences that exceed customer expectations.

Inventory & Vendor Management – Skilled in ordering, invoice processing, and inventory practices to maintain supply levels and meet food and liquor cost targets.

Scheduling & Payroll Management – Proficient in optimizing labor through effective scheduling and payroll oversight, balancing productivity with customer satisfaction.

Event Planning & Execution – Ability to coordinate and implement promotional events and special functions in alignment with brand strategies and business goals.

Strategic & Creative Thinking – Able to think strategically and creatively in addressing challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of direct experience.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
